The history of the Royal Oak
At first glance, this watch had nothing to please. Because of its imposing size at the time, and also the fact that it was only made of steel. This watch surprised everyone when it was presented at the Basel Fair in 1972. The reference 15 500 ST has a stainless steel case, with a sapphire crystal, anti-reflective treatment, and a screwed crown. The watch has a diameter of 41 mm, and the thickness of the case is 10.4 mm.
This reference has a blue dial with a "Grande Tapisserie" pattern, and the hands are in white gold with a luminescence deposit. The watch has a fine mesh stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp, and the maillions are said to fall, and are very comfortable to wear on the wrist.
For the caliber, the 43 02, is a self-winding caliber, manufactured by the brand. It has 257 components and 32 stones with a balance frequency of 4 Hz, i.e. 28,800 vibrations per hour. The watch also has a power reserve of 70 hours.
