A look back at Watch Certificate™'s participation in Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024: The must-attend event for the watch industry.
Every year, Watches and Wonders Geneva attracts the elite of the global watch industry and offers an unrivalled showcase for the latest creations and innovations. This year, the organizing committee honored Watch Certificate™ with its first selection as an exhibitor at LAB. For us, it was recognition of our commitment to excellence and innovation in watchmaking. Zoom in on the highlights of this prestigious event.
Aconcentrate of creativity and expertise
Over 45,000 visitors to Watches and Wonders enjoyed four days of fascinating presentations, lively debates and inspiring encounters. Surrounded by the industry's key players, the creativity and expertise of the 54 watch brands represented, the latest trends and technological advances shaping the future of watchmaking were presented.
Innovation at the heart of the event
At the heart of all the discussions at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024 was innovation, from revolutionary materials for traditional luxury watches to new approaches to security and trust: How can you protect your watches against counterfeiting? How can they be recovered in the event of theft? How do you fight theft in the first place? Guillaume Kuntz, co-founder of Watch Certificate™ dug into these hot topics during the "Loss and theft in the world of watches" talk at Agora, alongside Sébastien Buonomo, CEO of the Orkos brand.
A new product launched by Watch Certificate™
Watch Certificate™ also took the opportunity to unveil a new product, the Watch Passport. This is a document, materialized as a card just like the rest of the existing Watch Certificate™ range, but with a special finish - known as "Frosted". This passport, available in physical and digital form, records all the essential information about your watch, such as brand, model and reference and a few photos, but also the serial number. It is the entry point for all watch owners into the ecosystem of services offered by Watch Certificate™, such as a timeline to document the history of the watch, insurance against theft, an estimate of market value signed by an expert, or certification of condition and authenticity, access to networks of professionals for interviews, or access to news from the manufactures.
Trends that stand out
Several trends emerged from the event, indicating future directions for the watch industry. On the one hand, the emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility was palpable, with many brands highlighting their sustainability initiatives and efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. On the other, the vintage and retro trend continued to grow in popularity. Many brands have revisited their archives to create watches that capture the spirit of the past with a modern twist.
Meetings and networking
In addition to the official presentations, Watches and Wonders also offered countless opportunities to network and meet with industry professionals from around the world. Our team was able to create valuable interactions to exchange ideas, establish partnerships and strengthen ties within the global watchmaking community. Joining us on site were Jessie, our partner in Asia, Alfaisal, our partner in the Middle East, Eric, responsible for our network of watchmakers, and Thomas, responsible for our partner manufactures.
For Watch Certificate™, participating in Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024 was an important experience in our development. The event not only allowed us to discover the latest trends and innovations in the watch industry, but also to connect with like-minded enthusiasts and professionals from around the world. We look forward to seeing how the developments presented at Watches and Wonders Geneva will shape the future of luxury watchmaking, and to continuing to play an active role in this industry.
